Dodowa Health Research Centre

Experience

The Dodowa Research Centre was set up by the Ghana Health Service as part of an agreement to have Operations Research satellite stations in the early 1990’s. The studies at the time focused on developing and evaluating community and district-based health interventions and obtaining information to improve the process of health policy, planning, and service delivery in the Shai-Osudoku and Ningo-Prampram Districts where the center is located. The focus of studies conducted at the center has not changed, however since 2006, work has expanded into the running of a Demographic Surveillance System, the conduct of Clinical Research and Trials, implementation, and social science research.
