Experience

IDI has 10years of experience carrying out biomedical research that has yielded 400 peer reviewed publications and 250 abstracted presented at both local and international meetings/conferences.
The goal of the Research Program at IDI is "To produce outstanding, internationally-recognized scholarship in infectious diseases that influences global policy and practice, with emphasis on Africa”
Currently, 49 research projects are ongoing at IDI and these projects are supported by a diverse array of funders.

Well described clinical cohort of 9000 patients (with a 10year history electronic medical records). Cohort includes;
- 10 years old Research Cohort with 1000 patients
- 2nd line cohort with approximately 1000 patients
- Complex ART patients 200
- Adolescent cohort of 950 patients
- 300 patients HIV-TB Co-infected patients treated per year
- 300 women receiving PMTCT B+
-250 discordant couples
-Older persons (greater than 60years) clinic with 300 patients
- More than 500 ART naive patients initiating ART per year.
- Access to large clinical cohort of 50,000patients through collaboration with Uganda Ministry of Health Sites (both rural and urban).
